NEW RIDERS

If you are new to motorcycling, knowing where to start can feel overwhelming. With Maeving, getting started is easy. Here's everything you need to get riding.

GETTING THE RIGHT LICENCE

To ride a Maeving, you will need a CBT. This one-day course in basic motorcycle training is simple to book and only takes a day of your time.

WHAT IS A CBT?

A CBT is a certificate of Compulsory Basic Training granted to you after completing a one-day course that covers essential motorcycle controls. The course ensures you can ride safely on your own and that you have control of a motorcycle.

WHO NEEDS A CBT?

Anyone who wants to ride a 125cc or the electric equivalent (such as a Maeving), who does not hold a full motorcycle licence, will require a CBT.

JOIN OUR NEW RIDERS PROGRAMME

To help you on your way, we have created the New Rider Programme, which will reimburse the cost of your CBT once you become a Maeving owner. To qualify for this offer, please sign up prior to purchasing your Maeving.

KEEPING SAFE

It's understandable to have safety concerns when it comes to riding a motorcycle but with the right gear, motorbike and insurance, you can start to put your mind at ease.

WEAR THE RIGHT GEAR

It's important to dress for the slide, not the ride. Legally, you must wear a helmet to ride a motorcycle. However, we would thoroughly recommend riding with protective gloves, abrasion-resistant clothing (such as a leather jacket and reinforced denim jeans), and good-quality motorcycle boots.

RIDE WITH CONFIDENCE

With a lightweight frame, a simple twist-and-go throttle, and quality componentry, a Maeving motorcycle is perfect for new riders. We believe excellence is peace of mind. The Dunlop Gold Seal tyres provide specialised traction, which you can only expect from one of the world's most respected manufacturers, whilst the linked brakes ensure effective stopping in a range of environments.

WHAT ABOUT INSURANCE?

If you're a motorcyclist in the UK, getting insurance is an essential part of owning and riding a bike on the road. Click here for key steps to follow to get the right motorcycle insurance for you.

CHOOSING A BIKE

Both the Maeving RM1 and the Maeving RM1S are great bikes for first-time riders. However, the best choice for you depends on factors like your location, daily commute, and budget.

HAVE YOU RIDDEN A MOTORCYCLE BEFORE?

If you have never been on a motorcycle before, the Maeving RM1 has a lower top speed and gentler acceleration that will make getting started feel easier. The Maeving RM1S is still a fantastic option for first-time riders and its higher top speed makes it suitable for a wider range of riding opportunities.

WHAT BIKE BEST SUITS YOUR COMMUTE?

A Maeving motorcycle is designed for urban travel. The Maeving RM1 has a top speed of 45mph, plenty for inner-city riding whilst the Maeving RM1S has a highway-capable top speed of 70mph, perfect for those whose journeys extend beyond the urban landscape.

DO YOU NEED STORAGE FOR YOUR JOURNEY?

Both Maeving motorbikes have built-in storage solutions. However, this is only available for the Maeving RM1 if you choose to ride with a single battery. The Maeving RM1S has 10 L of built-in storage as standard, plus you can attach the Maeving Roll Top Pannier to the left-hand side of both models.

BEST BIKE MEET-UPS

They say it's about the journey, not the destination. Well, we believe a good destination is part of every great journey. View our best motorcycle destinations to visit in the UK by clicking here.

MAEVING RIDER GUIDE

We regularly speak to proud Maeving owners, asking them about their journey with motorcycling, what drew them to Maeving and how they are using their electric motorcycle.
