RM2 FAQS

Here we answer the most common questions about the Maeving RM2.

Is my £500 deposit refundable?

Yes, your deposit if non-binding and fully refundable.

What licence do I need to ride the RM2?

You need a CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) certificate to ride the RM2. However, if you wish to carry a pillion passenger, you will need a full Category A licence, which includes the A1, A2, and Full A licences, or a full AM licence for a moped. You cannot carry a passenger on a provisional licence with just a Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) certificate. You must also ensure the passenger has a helmet.

When can i test ride the RM2?

Test rides are available at our factory in Coventry and our London showroom now. You can book here.

Full test ride availability in Bolton, Colchester and West London will be available from mid-October.

If you’d like to be among the first RM2 owners and secure the free upgrade, we recommend placing your order as soon as you can. Once test rides are open, you can book one. If you then decide not to proceed with your final payment, let our sales team know and they’ll refund your £500 deposit.

Can I ride the RM2 on the motorway?

If you have an A1 licence or higher, you can legally ride the RM2 on all types of roads in the UK. However, if you have a CBT, you are allowed to ride on public roads and A-roads but not motorways.

Does riding with a pillion affect the advertised range of the RM2?

Yes. Weight and range are inextricably linked. Depending on how you ride will determine the real-world range of the RM2. The range of a Maeving RM2 is impacted by numerous variables. These are: extreme temperatures, wind speed, grade of terrain, rider weight, riding style (aggressive acceleration vs. tempered acceleration), average riding speed and riding with a pillion passenger. If a high percentage of your journey is at high speeds and/or you are riding with a pillion passenger, the range will be less than the stated WMTC figures found in our specs table.

Can I finance this purchase?

Yes, the Maeving RM2 is available to purchase on finance.

Can I charge the RM2 from a car charging point?

Yes, we have a Type 2 adaptor available to find out more click here.

What is the real world range of the Maeving RM2?

The real world range is calculated according to the WMTC (World Motorcycle Test Cycle). It is a European standard that measures the range of a vehicle based on a variety of testing scenarios.

The WMTC is the industry/homologation standard for motorcycles and covers a range of speed, accelerations and gradients to give a real world representative and comparable (even with Internal Combustion vehicles) energy consumption figure. The test consists of 3 phases in equal measure covering: urban, rural and highway and is what Maeving uses to determine the range of our electric bikes.

These are: Extreme temperatures, Wind speed, Grade of terrain, Rider weight, Riding style (aggressive acceleration vs. tempered acceleration), Average riding speed and riding with a pillion passenger.

The Maeving RM2 has been designed for urban travel. If you ride the RM2 within the city, you will be able to travel up to 80 miles. However, if a high percentage of your journey is at high speeds or you are riding with a pillion the range will be lower than the WMTC stated figure.

Do you offer a guarantee?
